Bathroom Remodeling in Older Homes in Tempe
Bathroom remodels for pre-1980 homes that start with the plumbing. We inspect the old drains and supply lines, fix what needs it, then build the new room.
Renova Plumbing & Drain works in Tempe's older homes: bathroom remodels, cast iron and under-slab drain replacement, sewer line repair, repiping and water heaters from north Tempe to the south end.
Much of north and central Tempe, in ZIPs 85281 and 85282, was built from the 1950s through the 1970s. Those homes often have original cast iron drains and aging supply lines. It is where the plumbing under a remodel matters most, and where we do much of our older-home work.

Tempe's older core near ASU is mostly ranch homes from the 1950s to the 1970s, many on slab with cast iron drains. When one of those homes gets a new bathroom, the drains under the floor are often older than the owner. We check them before the tile goes down.
South Tempe is mostly 1970s and 1980s. There, we see water heater replacements, tankless upgrades and repipes of tired supply lines. We have installed tankless water heaters and repaired corroded water lines in Tempe homes, and customers here have hired us for bathroom remodels.

Not automatically. First we find out what condition they are in, usually with a sewer camera. If the cast iron is sound, we leave it. If it is cracked, scaled or sagging, replacing it while the floor is open costs far less than tearing out a new bathroom later.
In older Tempe homes, repeat clogs often point to cast iron that has scaled, cracked or developed a low spot under the slab. Clearing the clog treats the symptom. A camera inspection shows the cause, so you can decide on repair or replacement with the facts in front of you.
Remodel plumbing, sewer work and water heater replacement can all require permits. The City of Tempe sets the rules, so check with them for your project. When a permit is required for the plumbing scope, Renova coordinates it and leaves the work to code and ready for inspection.
